Abstract

Tourism in Nusa Penida has grown rapidly over the past two decades, establishing the area as one of the leading destinations in the Province of Bali. However, the surge in tourist visits has not been matched by adequate readiness of basic infrastructure such as roads, clean water, electricity, public transportation, and waste management. This study aims to analyze the impact of infrastructure limitations and insufficiencies on the sustainability of tourism in Nusa Penida. The research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through field observations, interviews with stakeholders, and literature review. The findings indicate that inadequate infrastructure has put pressure on the environment, reduced the quality of visitor experiences, and threatened the well-being of local communities. Nevertheless, initiatives from local communities and regional governments to develop community-based sustainable tourism demonstrate a positive direction. This study recommends integrated planning among government, private sectors, and communities to strengthen infrastructure and ensure sustainable destination governance.
